XL Classic cabinet Dioptase specimen with Malachite & Shattuckite
Experience the brilliance of Dioptase from Congo, an exceptionally rare mineral renowned for its vivid emerald-green crystals. This remarkable mineral is celebrated for its striking color and various crystal forms, including glistening drusy/sugary, classic cubic, and the rarer prismatic shapes.
Discovered in Brazzaville in 2019, this deposit produced some of the finest museum-quality gemmy Dioptase specimens seen in decades. Among these treasures, a few specimens were found with bright, gemmy yellow Mimetite crystals and/or unique botryoidal hollow domes of Dioptase. This small pocket yielded only a handful of specimens, making them incredibly sought after.
Following this, material from Tantara began to appear around 2020. Although distinct from the Brazzaville deposit, Tantara has contributed to the growing collection of Dioptase specimens from Africa. Remarkably, the past five years have seen more collector and museum-grade Dioptase specimens from Africa than the previous two decades combined, marking a significant period in the history of Dioptase mining in Southern Africa.
Owning a piece of Dioptase from Congo is a rare privilege. Explore these exceptional specimens and add a touch of extraordinary natural beauty to your collection.
