The small Tulip bags were fashioned after the Tulip Purse.  A purse that is made by the Lenape people from deer leather made to look like the Tulip flower brought here from Dutch contact. The purses carried a variety of things, including medicines, plants etc., later on used as part of their dance regalia.  These small replicas are mostly used by us for tobacco for ceremonial use or other small items.
